August 26, 2009 -- Cintas Corporation, the country’s largest supplier of uniforms and laundry services, has agreed to settle for $24 million the claims brought by thousands of its current and former route drivers, nationwide, for unpaid overtime and other wages. To resolve the drivers’ federal and state law claims, which have been proceeding in federal court since 2003 and in AAA arbitration since 2004, Cintas will pay $22.75 million for damages, costs of settlement administration, and fees, plus approximately $1.25 million for the employer's share of applicable payroll taxes.
The final details of the settlement have yet to be negotiated, and the settlement will require court approval. Further information on the settlement is available at www.cintasovertime.com.
Altshuler Berzon LLP represents the plaintiff drivers, along with co-counsel Coughlin Stoia Geller Rudman & Robbins LLP and Traber & Voorhees.
