L.A. Superior Court Certifies Class Action Against Tinder for Age Discrimination in Pricing and Denies Tinder’s Motion to Compel Nearly 270,000 Class Members to Individual Arbitration

Six months after certifying a class of nearly 270,000 Tinder premium service subscribers, an L.A. Superior Court judge denied Tinder’s motion seeking to force most of those Tinder users to pursue their claims of unlawful age discrimination in individual arbitration, rather than in court. The class alleges that, beginning in 2015, Tinder charged older users (those over 29) double the price it charged younger users for the identical services, in violation of California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act and Unfair Competition Law. Altshuler Berzon LLP together with co-counsel represents the certified class of Tinder premium service subscribers.

If you subscribed to a Tinder premium service in California between 2015 and 2019 and were over the age of 29 at the time, please call (415) 421-7151 or email cwang@altber.com if you would like to discuss your rights.
